Friends call me Coco. I’m a graduate student in the Vision Sciences Laboratory at Harvard University, working broadly in the areas of computational cognitive neuroscience and machine learning (AI), but with a particular focus on the intersection of perception and language in the understanding (and reverse engineering) of human (and nonhuman) intelligence. As an undergraduate, I studied comparative literature and international relations, with emphases on language learning, technology, and security. The overarching question in my research now is the question of how the mind makes meaning of the chaos that bombards our senses, and how we then communicate that meaning to other minds.

Outside of work (and sometimes at work), I live for the experience of beauty, embodied most particularly for me in peaches and cream, stark desert still lifes, evolutionary spandrels, one hundred forty beats per minute, adagio for strings, and buffalo sauce.

A copy of my curriculum vitae may be found at this link.

News & Updates

After seven wonderful years in the Harvard Vision Sciences Laboratory, I am now actively on the job market! I’m open to both traditional academic positions & industry, and am generally keen to pursue all kinds of research involving brains, behavior, or AI systems, remotely or in person (pending some geographical constraints).
